Mechanical seals belong to one of the most sophisticated and complicated mechanical basic components, which are the key components of various kinds of pump, reaction synthesis kettle, turbine compressor, submersible motor and so on. Its sealing performance and service life depend on many factors, such as selection, precision of machine, correct installation and use.
1. Selection method.

Selection of main parameters are: seal cavity pressure (MPa), fluid temperature (℃), the working speed (m/s), the characteristics of the fluid and install sealed effective space, etc.
The basic principles of selection are:
1. According to the pressure of the sealing chamber, the sealing structure is determined to adopt a balanced or unbalanced type, single end face or double end face, etc.
2. According to the working speed, the rotary or static type, hydrodynamic pressure or non-contact type is determined.
3. According to the temperature and fluid properties, determine the friction pairs and auxiliary sealing materials, and correctly select the mechanical seal circulation protection system such as lubrication, washing, heat preservation and cooling, etc.
4. According to the effective space of the installation seal, it is confirmed that the multi-spring or single spring or wave spring is adopted, and the inner or outer loading is adopted.
